Whether you should have the affected area excavated or simply treated with herbicides depends on what you intend to immediately do with the land. If you are planning to build on, landscape or otherwise disturb the area, it is better to have the Japanese Knotweed excavated. Our experts will advise on the best course of action when they visit your site.
Timing is everything
While we will begin our treatment programme as soon as possible, the different herbicides are most effective at different times of the year, so we ask you to be patient. Knotweed is an unpredictable plant and usually requires several different types of treatment to eradicate it.
In the majority of cases, we will eliminate the problem inside 18 months; smaller infestations can sometimes be overcome in 12 months. Observation and response to the treatments are key, so we will advise you on this and monitor the progress for you.
